Brenda’s journey to become a family mediator began in 1988 when she became instant “Mom” to a 9 year old Stepson. It was both a challenge and an awakening when she realized he had many lessons to teach her about parenting and she and her husband had to accept the realization that they had different parenting styles.
The concept of mediation peaked Brenda’s interest so she began to take Conflict Resolution courses at the Justice Institute of British Columbia and eventually obtained her Certification in Conflict Resolution.
However… that was only the beginning.
In serving families to the best of her ability Brenda recognized the importance of getting her certification as a Family Mediator with Family Mediation Canada. Two years later, many more hours of Institute courses, live practicums and written exams Brenda received her Certification as a Comprehensive Family Mediator.
Brenda saw firsthand how amazing mediation was for couples to reach agreements as they were going through a divorce or separation and knew in her heart that this process would work for other family dynamics. She continued her education in working with families and obtained her Masters Certification as a Step Family Coach through the Step Family Association of America and her Certification as a Professional Consultant on Aging to assist seniors and their families as an Elder Mediator.
“I feel honoured when families put their trust and faith in me as a Family Mediator and in the process of Family Mediation to help them have discussions and come to agreements so that they can move forward in their lives”.
